This week, I’ve been lucky enough to escape the heat of Phoenix and venture off to Michigan for time with family and friends! After a relaxing day lakeside for the Fourth, my long-time friend Joanna and I day-tripped to Grand Rapids to run some errands and see the city where she’ll be moving!
With free time to spend in the afternoon, we decided to scope out Downtown Market.
The road leading up to it, like lots of the roads in Grand Rapids, is paved with brick.
Inside the two-storied building we found lots of Michigan shops each with their own little space to sell locally-made food, desserts, candles, and other gifts.
Lavender seems to be the it flavor.
Also, Michiganders have lots of pride for their little mitten.
Snapped these beauties just for you, Clare!
Even though we were still full from our lunch, we had to get samples from Love’s- a Grand Rapids-based ice cream and gelato shop.
Which resulted in this cone of vegan lavender blueberry scrumptiousness- the best refreshment for a warm summer afternoon. I’ll be dreaming about this gelato for days!
Walking around the second floor we enjoyed the views of the city and a green house full of flowers, herbs, and veggie plants for sale.
Outside, the living wall added a beautiful landscape to the brick backdrop.
Loved spending the day with my best friend of 15 years! So excited for her to move out here!
