Summer nights in Wisconsin are pretty much perfect. The humidity doesn’t seem to matter when it’s a cool 70. Having such long, unbearably cold winters makes everyone appreciate the summer that much more. Eating dinner outside, especially picnics, helps us take advantage of the warm weather before we live like Inuits for the rest of the year. My little sister and I hosted our cousins over for a pizza picnic dinner. We cooked pesto pizza and used our own garden veggies as toppings. Have you very tried Trader Joe’s pre-made pizza dough? It’s amazing. Along with our pizza I whipped up a feta, champagne salad, and a cucumber chickpea salad. Don’t worry we weren’t healthy all night. We also enjoyed chocolate cookies and wine after our salads.
Here’s the gorgeous spread. My baby sister and cousin surprised us by setting the table. We were just planning on roughing it. She even folded our napkins. 🙂
Pizza One and Two. We added; pesto, mozzarella, red bell pepper, onion, basil, artichoke, tomatoes, and brussels sprouts. Both pizzas are pretty much the same but we had some tomato and artichoke haters so one has fewer toppings than the other.
The centerpiece! Also a Trader Joe’s pick, along with some wildflowers. Trader Joe’s has the best flower selection, and it’s very affordable!
I hope this inspires you to get outside for dinner! It was so relaxing and we didn’t need to worry about making a mess. Sorry Erika that it’s still way over 100 degrees in Phoenix! 😛
